Prof Brian Cox visits TNMOC

Professor Brian Cox, particle physicist and presenter of science programmes, and Captain Jerry Roberts, wartime Tunny codebreaker in the Testery, came to TNMOC this week to film part of a new series for BBC TV.

Of course, we can't reveal too much about the programme, but it is scheduled to air sometime in the first half of next year and it should be fascinating. Brian Cox interviewed Jerry Roberts about the methods by which he and his colleagues managed to break the "unbreakable" cipher sent by the Lorenz machine between Hitler and his generals.

Brian Cox was fascinated by the technology in the Tunny and Colossus Galleries and was eager to try his hand at a teleprinter machine (see photo). He also managed to get closer than most in calculating Colossus power consumption (see photo).
