STEAM Family Half-Term Activities! Fun for the whole family

You will also have the opportunity to explore the whole museum as a family and be inspired by the hands-on demonstrations from our expert guides and volunteers.

We offer a variety of activities from Sphero Bolts, Minecraft and OSMO Augmented Reality to programming BBC Micros and BBC micro:bits!

So, lots to fascinate kids throughout the half term.

Our educational STEM activities have become the go-to Milton Keynes event for children wanting creative fun during the school holidays and every weekend throughout the year. From Minecraft to OSMO, BBC micro:bits to Robotics, there is plenty to do to unlock imaginations, inspire and entertain. Educational fun for all the family, providing byte sized tasters of coding, robotics, augmented reality, virtual reality and much much more!

Please note that these hands-on activities are not drop-off events. Parental supervision is required at all times.

Each day consists of 2 drop in sessions spread throughout the day, leaving you time to explore the museum and enjoy all of the STEM activities!

Activities are suitable for all ages unless otherwise stated.

Monday 29th May - Robotics

This workshop is focused on robotics and includes two sessions. Participants will use a variety of robotics kits, including Sphero Bolts, Cubetto, and Ozobots to learn about programming and robots. The workshop is designed to be accessible to participants of all ages, and has something for everyone!

Tuesday 30th May - Programming

This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the world of coding and programming. The workshop utilizes popular tools and resources such as Minecraft Education Edition, Micro:Bits, and OSMO Augmented Reality Kits to make coding more accessible and engaging for learners. Participants will have the opportunity to explore coding concepts through hands-on activities and projects. This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced coders alike, and is designed to be both fun and educational.

Thursday 1st June- Engineering

This day is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of engineering, from digital to hands on. Participants will work with a variety of equipment and resources, including 3D printers, CAD software, and build-your-own robot kits. Through hands-on activities, participants will have the opportunity to explore engineering and create things. This workshop is suitable for learners of all ages and experience levels, and is a great way to explore the exciting field of engineering.

Saturday 3rd June- Robotics

Sunday 4th - Virtual and Augmented Reality

This workshop is designed for participants of all ages to experience the capabilities of VR/AR technology. Children under 12 will focus on Augmented Reality games and experiences, while participants over 12 will get the chance to experience Virtual Reality and take part in a teamwork-based game about defusing bombs! The workshop is designed to be fun and educational, and is a great way to explore the exciting world of VR and AR technology.
