Read MoreThe National Museum of Computing has today announced that the inventors and co-founders of the Raspberry Pi, Eben Upton, and Liz Upton, grassroots community organiser and Executive Director of Communications at Raspberry Pi, are to be awarded honorary fellowships of the museum. The Honorary Fellowship recognises outstanding contributions towards the history and ongoing development of computing, and a ceremony honouring them will be held on the 3rd December 2022.

The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) invites families to get involved in its Summer STEM Bytes Festival, an exciting and unique celebration of all things computing. Running for over 6 weeks from Tuesday 26th July until Sunday 4th September, the festival offers a fantastic opportunity for kids to get hands-on experience in a diverse selection of computational delights.

Read MoreTNMOC is kicking off two competitions for the summer targeting creatives with a passion for expression through writing and the visual arts. The Young People’s Poetry Competition asks aspiring writers to produce a piece in honour of somebody they feel deserves greater recognition, while Atari Art Re-imagined pays tribute to the pioneering artists and graphics designers who achieved that breakthrough by asking the artists of today to re-interpret a piece of classic Atari box art.

Virtual Flossie is a 3D implementation of the ICT 1301 – a British-made computer built on pioneering transistor and memory technologies that revolutionised computing.
The 1301 also featured an award-winning design that earned it appearances in TV and films including James Bond and Doctor Who. Two hundred were sold but just four remain, with the first – that would be named “Flossie” – dodging the scrap heap three times to find a home at The National Museum of Computing.
