The technology and architecture of the Elliott 803 made it one of the most popular British computers of the 1960s
Peter Onion, a volunteer at the National Museum of Computing, maintains the museums iconic Elliott 803B computer and as such has a deep understanding of the operation and programming of this historic machine.
The 803 was designed at a time of rapid technology development but shrewd decisions by the designers made it the most successful machine of its time, that being the early 1960s, with over 200 delivered.
The talk will cover the 803’s CPU architecture, logic circuits, memory technology, peripherals and instruction set. A Q&A session will also be available at the end.
