Sustainability in Tech Day with Ortial Technologies

In our informative, action packed 'Sustainability in Tech Day', delivered in partnership with Ortial Technologies (a leading vendor of memory, storage and networking components) and Techbuyer (global specialists in the buying, refurbishing and selling of enterprise IT equipment), students will gain an in-depth understanding of what is inside a computer with hands-on hardware sessions designed to build both knowledge and practical skills. Students will explore the various sustainable options available when it comes to replacing devices, with an emphasis on raw materials and practicable solutions.

This full day of sustainable events will combine engaging presentations with hands-on workshops.

Topics Covered Will Include:

  • What’s Inside? - Exploring the contents of used ICT with Alan Fisher, ITAD Business Improvement Manager in ITAD UK.

  • Behavioural Change Workshop - How we can reduce energy with considered internet/online usage choices with Astrid Wynne, Sustainability Lead in IT, UK.

  • Short Term Memory Workshop - Understanding Memory Modules (Dimms) with Tiffany Mazza, Marketing and Design Manager at Ortial.

  • Long Term Memory Workshop - Hard/Solid Disks and respective storage mediums with Nick Hayhurst, UK RMA Stock Controller in RMA and HDD expert.

  • The Relationship between ICT and Climate Change with Rich Kenny, Group IT Director in IT.

  • What is the Circular Economy?With Jack Nove, Sustainability Coordinator in IT.

Terms and Conditions:

The Sustainability in Tech Day is suitable for students in KS3/KS4. This event is limited to a capacity. Schools may bring up 20 students per group. Cancellations made within 30 days of the event will not be refunded.
