A celebration of technological preservation took place on Tuesday 29th September at The National Museum of Computing (TNMoC), as the museum proudly hosted the official ceremony for the 2026 Tony Sale Award.
Presented in collaboration with the Computer Conservation Society (CCS), this prestigious international award recognises outstanding global achievements in hands-on computer hardware and software restoration.
This year’s top honour for vintage computer hardware restoration was awarded to David Lovett of Usagi Electric. Lovett accepted the computer restoration award in front of a full house of guests, volunteers, and tech enthusiasts who gathered for this highlight of the Bletchley Park events calendar.
Following the presentation, he delighted the audience with an animated and highly entertaining presentation detailing the journey, technical hurdles, and triumphs of his unique restoration project.
The Tony Sale Award panel and TNMoC extend their warmest congratulations to David on this outstanding achievement and his dedication to keeping computing history alive.
